The Pursuit

Waking up with God
Working to Glorify Him
Resting to keep sane
Relating with family dinners
Listen to really good music
Seeing old friends
Writing to outlet
Praying without ceasing
Reading like it’s a dying art
Thinking deeply alone
Falling asleep, not going to sleep
Waking up with God
Days are no more, there is only the moment created by the pursuit of Him.

A Friend.

One of the greatest things that can be given to a man is the gift of friendship that doesn’t leave, hurt, or fail. One that is loyal, true, and loving. A friend that will hear you out and offer their mind. A friend to be crazy with and grow old having fun with. A man needs people like this in his life. They keep him sane when he’s on the ledge, they laugh until air is gasped, comfort when it’s hard, and encourage when it’s harder. These few, that impact and mold, they shape and hold onto this bond…because they know its importance, its value, its significance. This friend will be there when others aren’t. They share good times that both of you will remember for the rest of your lives. You will repeat phrases and gestures that no-one will understand. Cliché’s aplenty: Friends to the End, Best Friends Forever, Brother From Another Mother, Friends for Life, Bro. This is the greatest. Enjoy your friends, and let them know how awesome they are.

The Truest of Things

There is some Love that hurts to think about…hurts to type about, write about, speak about. The words on the page give no justice to the pain, no feeling to the gap, no warning for the trap.  It’s the length in-between that starts to eat at the core, it screams to ignore…instead there is more. Questions arise and they never cease, they never go away, they never release.  Doubt finds its way in…of course. With force, it sends in heaps of remorse. But, Love is the most powerful thing. An emotion that inevitably ends with a ring. A force that raises the cynic to sing. A renewal that is tied poetically to Spring….These are the thoughts to which I cling. Love is without a doubt, the truest of things.

Love is God and God is Love.
Love is when you lay down your life for another
Whether for your brother, your mother, your father or your sister
Its even laying down your life for your enemies,
That’s unthinkable, but think about that
Love is true

With Everything

“Open our eyes,
To see the things
That make Your heart cry,
To be the church
That You would desire.
Your Light to be seen.”

Yes Lord. May this be the cry of our hearts. With Everything Lord, may we be a church that reflects you Lord. Father, you are Worthy, over and over again. Open our eyes to the things that you desire us to be God. Amen.

I heard this song live at Passion2010 in January. Hillsong was playing a special concert in the main hall, and we got in to see it. Our seats were horrible, but we didn’t care. The anointing that was in that room is something that I couldn’t begin to explain to any of you. You couldn’t understand. The amount of emotions and tears running in that room was so real. People’s hearts were changed right then and there. In that moment, God was moving through each person, worshiping or not. Spontaneous prayer, cries to God, dancing, crying, laughing. It was a Holy moment that words can only desperately try to make sense of.

If there was a band that God chose to speak his words to his people, it would be this worship band. I know that seems a bit weird and biased. Say what you will. When you here them in person, you will know what I am talking about. The next best thing is to just listen to them. Here is their song, With Everything.

I LOVE you all, and much progress for those studying or working on a major thesis. Peace

— Eric

The leaves in the pages mark points in our lives we wish to remember, where do your leaves fall?

If Love were a memory, I pray to never forget it, and tell everyone about it.
